A Leader in Soft Tissue Repair.

Newport, RI, Sept. 23, 2005 / PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- WoundTEK, Inc. Today announced that the Company has expanded the distribution channel for their Suture Tension Adjustment Reel, better known as the S.T.A.R. Device, into the South East United States through Specialty Surgical Instrumentation, Inc (SSI). The expanded territory will allow the company’s wound closure/soft tissue repair product to be sold throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. The expanded distribution includes hundreds of hospitals that SSI has been selling to since the early seventies. “SSI is one of the largest and most respected medical device distributors in the United States, We are delighted to have them representing us in the South East territory. This expansion will surely impact our bottom line,” said Andrew Reilly, President of WoundTEK.

The S.T.A.R. device is the first minimally invasive tissue expansion device; it is one of the most effective methods for closure of large open wounds caused by trauma or surgery. Its ability to bring large skin deficits to a linear closure rapidly has won the device much acclaim since its introduction and it is rapidly becoming the leading device for most delayed primary closures.

SSI is a leading medical device distributor based in Nashville, TN. Established in 1976 by Louis Wallace and Charles Mann. “We are extremely optimistic about the opportunity to represent WoundTEK and to sell the S.T.A.R. device. We believe that this product will become a leading device in a very short time frame.” Said Lou Wallace, President of SSI.

The S.T.A.R. is a class one FDA accepted device and is available through WoundTEK distributors throughout the United States.

The potential target markets for the S.T.A.R. device, according to industry sources, accounts for over 2,200,000 procedures annually in the U.S. with a total potential market in excess of $650 million. Open fractures, decubitus ulcers, burns, and severe trauma, represent the largest areas of opportunity.
