| Trauma:
Fasciotomy, laporotomy, gunshot wound, knife wound, electrical and
chemical burn, compound fracture, loss of tissue, abdominal trauma
(sepsis / abdominal comp. syndrome).
General: Abdominal
complications (sepsis/abdominal comp. syndrome), removal of gangrenous
tissue, removal of infectious tissue, various hernia closures, other
delayed primary and secondary closure, removal of cancerous lesions
and tumor growth sites.
Cardiothoracic: Sternotomy
wound closure, other delayed primary and secondary closures, use
as a "bolster” for chest closures to prevent re-opening
of wound.
Cardiovascular: Delayed
primary and secondary closures, use as a "bolster" to
prevent re-opening of wound, various complicated hernia closures.
Chronic Wounds: Decubitus
ulcers, and chronic wound in cases where viable and vascular tissue
can be approximated through tensioning. Following removal of infected
tissue the STAR can bring opposing margins of viable tissue to linear
closure. Smaller areas may also be excised and reduced to linear
closure where surrounding tissue is viable.
Plastics & Reconstructive:
Removal of tissue, reduction of skin graft sites to linear
closure, removal of birthmark and lesion sites, generation of excess
skin for flap, use as bolster to prevent re-opening..
The S.T.A.R.™ device is shipped as a single
use sterile product in a package with 6 units per box. The container
is designed to fit exactly into a standard suture rack. The product
is manufactured and sterile packaged by Genzyme Corp. of MA.
