Compound Fracture - New Haven, CT - Yale Trauma Unit
 
     
 
  • 50+ yr old male
  • Car accident victim suffered open fracture
  • Wound was approximately five inches wide and could not be closed using normal suture methods due to heightened post operative swelling.

  • Upon setting the STAR the wound was immediately closed to less than three inches.
  • Three STAR devices were used to provide equal tension along sides of defect.
  • The top of the wound was started with normal suture method while STAR devices were put in place

  • After just three days the wound was reduced to a linear closure.
